Root Canal Therapy in Austin

Here’s the secret: a root canal doesn’t cause the famous pain — it ends it. The toothache comes from an infected nerve; the root canal removes it. With modern anesthetics and rotary instruments, most patients doze through it.

What happens at your visit

  1. We numb the tooth completely and verify it — we don’t start until you feel nothing.

  2. The infected nerve tissue is removed through a small opening. You feel vibration, not pain.

  3. The canals are disinfected and sealed with a rubber-like filling.

  4. A crown or filling rebuilds the tooth so you can chew on it for years to come.

Does it hurt?

The procedure itself shouldn’t hurt at all — patients regularly tell us it felt like a long filling. Some soreness when chewing for a few days after is normal as the infection calms down.

How long does it take?

Usually one visit of 60–90 minutes. Molars or heavy infections sometimes need a second, shorter visit.

What affects the cost

from $850

  • Which tooth — front teeth have one canal, molars have three or four.
  • Whether a crown is needed afterward (usually yes for back teeth).
  • Most insurance covers a meaningful portion; we verify and quote before starting.

Starting prices for straightforward cases. Your exact cost depends on your exam — we always quote in writing before treating, and the quote is what you pay.

Questions patients ask us

Wouldn’t it be cheaper to just pull the tooth?

Pulling is cheaper today, but the empty space causes shifting and chewing problems, and replacing the tooth later (implant or bridge) costs far more than the root canal would have. We’ll show you both paths with real numbers.
